Do you think a shelter will take an open bag of cat food?
My new cat was on anti-bodies that made him loose his appetite. Not knowing it was the pills that was causing him not to eat, I bought a 2nd bag of food (science diet).
Now that he is off the pills he is eating fine. So I am going to put him on the food I picked out. I opened the bag and filled his bowl up once. So it is pretty much a full bag. Will they take it even though it is open?
Rescue organizations may be more willing to accept the food than a shelter will. With the pet food scare last year, it may be dicey. A number of shelters have arrangements with pet food suppliers and don’t take such donations.
If you bought the food at Petco or Petsmart, they will probably refund you. Especially since the bag is so full. I have taken food back to them and exchanged an opened, mostly full bag for a different brand. No problem.
