What are the dangers of using Stacker 2 Ephedra Free in general? What if someone has thyroid antibodies?

A friend of mine is planning to try this, and because it’s Ephedra free she thinks it’s safe? What do some of you think? Also, she does not have hypothyroidism, but does have thyroid antibodies and occasional fluctuations with her TSH results(but nothing major), so she may eventually develop it. The label on this product says if you have thyroid disease not to use it. Wouldn’t this also apply to her, or could it make things worse? What can she use to boost her energy and burn fat without worsening her health? I’m thinking there is nothing other than patience and hard work.

yes, it applies..if she has high antibodies it is hashimotos which is a form of hypothyroidism. When you say nothing major in her tsh results what does that mean? a lot of people suffer from subclinical hypo even with so-called normal tsh’s and must be treated to feel well. Her best bet is to get her tsh, free t3, free t4 and antibodies ck’d again and see where she is at in the ranges….but also stay away from any thing like this….

Today, there are many weight loss products that are being touted as being safe. However, recent studies have shown that these so-called safe products may actually be harmful for the body.

These products are ephedra-free weight loss supplements and are being marketed especially for people who are overweight and want to loss weight. However, studies have shown that these same products can cause an increase in the heart rate in healthy people and even can be harmful to some people.

A study conducted by the University of California San Francisco looked at two dietary supplements that had contained bitter orange extract. Bitter orange extract is commonly used instead of ephedra in weight loss products after the FDA banned ephedra in 2004 because of health risks and side effects.

The test group for the study had 10 health adults who were given one or both dietary supplements or placebo. The researchers found that with a single dose of both dietary supplements, the heart rate increased by 11 to 16 beats per minute. This increase works out to an 18 percent increase if you take the baseline heart rate of 80 beats per minute.

In addition, one of the dietary supplements was responsible for increasing blood pressure by 7 to 12 percent. It appeared that this product acted as a cardiovascular stimulant just like ephedra.

These findings clearly show that ephedra-free dietary supplements can have negative effect on the heath and are similar to those associated with ephedra.

Although more long-term studies are required to check the health effects of ephedra-free dietary supplements, scientists are urging doctors to caution patients about using ephedra-free weight loss supplements. In addition, scientists feel that doctors should keep a close watch on the blood pressure of patients who chose to take these weight loss supplements, especially in people who suffer from hypertension or heart disease. In fact, these people should completely avoid taking these supplements.
